Check out this great ride season report from Arizona endurance rider Linda Morelli!
Our most recent ride was the Valley of the Sun in Phoenix, AZ…used Renegade® boots and had absolutely no problems, the course was rocky, sandy and hard pack road…no mud or water crossings….we finished in 9th place.
I was able to use one set of boots, strictly for competition for 260 miles…those boots are now being used for conditioning. When I was tracking usage…all told, I could get between 300-400 miles…the 260 mile “competition” boots were used over some pretty challenging (rocky) footing.
One of my horses has never been shod and I have competed on him for the one year I have owned him. The 2nd horse has been barefoot for 18 months and was shod for approximately 7 years prior…the 3rd horse has been barefoot for approximately 20 months and was shod for approximately 11 years…I do love to have my horses barefoot and I love the Renegades. I totally love the concept of the boots.
I love the protection the boots provide the horse and the ease of use.
Hoof care is made a little easier for me because my horses are on 8 acres of turnout on footing that I refer to as “nature’s nail file”: it is DG, rocky, sandy etc…I place their feed and water in various locations, requiring them to move around a lot and provide me with a foot that often requires little more than rasping.
We had a great 2008 ride season…14 rides started…14 rides completed….13 top ten (one on a 100 miles) and 1 win in a 50.
