Karen and ‘Chief’ on the Bryce Canyon trail

A Report from Karen Chaton on the 5-day ride:

Dear Kirt and Gina – my two horses, Granite Chief and Pro Bono, just completed the 5-day 250 mile Bryce Canyon XP ride. We had a great adventure both during the week of the ride and prior to it even starting. I used Renegade® strap-on boots on both horses.

I love how easy the strap-on boots are to use. I don’t need any special tools to put them on and can get them installed on all four hooves in only a handful of minutes, including picking out the horses’ hooves.

Each evening I pulled the boots off and rinsed them out in a bucket of water. The boots would dry overnight and be ready to use again the next day. Bo uses 2′s and 1′s, while Chief uses 1′s and 0′s.

I have not had either horse get rubbed from using these boots, and have used them for thousands of miles of competition so far plus many more miles than that while marking trail and conditioning!

Karen and ‘Bo’ on the Bryce Canyon trail

During my two-week trip, I rode the horses through plenty of water crossings, mud, rocks, grass, hard packed trails and lots of climbing. The Renegades performed so well!  I was really impressed with the great traction both of my horses had in all types of terrain, and at all speeds. One rider commented about not being able to canter with boots on. Well – I put that theory to a pretty good test and guess what – my boots stayed on both horses at all gaits. We had a blast!!

It was good to see so many other riders using the Renegade® strap-on boots during the week at Bryce too. It is obvious that these boots are the most popular choice among endurance riders as far as strap-on hoof boots are concerned.

I know others are happy that they don’t have to use any additional materials like duct tape, sport tape or vetwrap with them [their Renegades].

Renegade® strap-on boots are definitely my #1 choice!

I really loved not having to glue boots on either horse for this ride. Thank you!!!

Cindy and ‘Bo Tucker’ on the Bryce Canyon trail

And another report from Cindy Bradley:

Bogar Tucker, my Morgan gelding, and I just completed our first 5-day 250 mile endurance ride at Bryce Canyon. Bo has been using strap-on Renegades for several years now without any rubs or other issues. For the five day, I decided to use glue-on Renegades. It just seemed easier for a multi-day ride. Bo came through all five days without any lameness issues.

Although Steve and I now are comfortable with applying the Renegade® glue-on boots, I must admit that I still prefer the strap-on Renegades for most applications. I like the idea of being able to remove the Renegades and check feet. They are so easy to put on, it takes no time remove them and reapply. Thank you, Kirt and Gina, for two wonderful products.
